TLC: The Lupus Concert
Benefiting The Lupus Clinic
What an amazing evening!!!!
The McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) Lupus Clinic held a fundraising event on Wednesday June 10th 2009 at the Typhoon Lounge, 5752 Monkland Avenue in Montreal. This fundraiser, “TLC: The Lupus Concert,” featured musical performances by twell-known local folk/rock bands, The Skivvies and The Echo Hunters. In addition, short information sessions were delivered by lupus researchers and a patient. This event was the first of its kind outside of the hospital.
All proceeds were contributed to The Singer Family Fund For Lupus Research. The Clinic is dedicated to improving the lives of persons living with lupus by: providing multidisciplinary specialized care; conducting innovative research projects; training the next generation of lupus physicians and researchers; promoting patient education, public awareness and advocacy. Each dollar raised will be generously matched by the Montreal General Hospital Foundation.
Silent auction, cupcakes, music and even a little learning to be had by all.
Thanks to everyone who came out to have fun, learn more about lupus and support the MGH Lupus Clinic.
Thank you to our generous sponsors, listed below on our flyers.

CFL Montreal Alouettes Autographed Football
The players from the 2009 Canadian Football League's Montreal Alouettes, ranked first in the CFL this season, have joined together for an important cause. The team and its players, have donated an autographed football to the The Singer Family Fund For Lupus Research, an organization which has supported the MUHC Montreal General Hospital Lupus Clinic since 2000 and has helped raise the funds required to allow the researchers to lead an attack on lupus.
We auctioned the football on Ebay:
Congratulations to our winner!!!!!!!!!
All proceeds from this auction went directly to The Singer Family Fund For Lupus Research. Every cent wentdirectly to the charity. The Montreal General Hospital Foundation also matches all money that the charity raises. This means that every cent spent is worth twice as much to the Lupus researchers and patients.
Itself, the football is worth 100$ (CND). It is a Wilson CFL Composite Leather ball with UltraGrip Technology. It has been signed by every player on the team's roster (see the Certificate of Authenticity), including CFL All-Star Quarterback Anthony Calvillo. The Item comes in its original packaging. It has not been used. care including accurate assessments, appropriate treatment, follow-up care and support. It is important to note that the MUHC Lupus Clinic is lead by a team of internationally recognized immunologist and rheumatologist such as Dr Ann Clarke, Dr. Christian Pineau and Dr. Sasha Bernasky. It is their dedication to new and ongoing research, teaching and patient care that makes this clinic so invaluable. Patient care and support is the main focus of the clinic. Much attention has been given to providing a comfortable environment for patients and their significant others. Little “extras” such as artist inspired décor, reading material, and free refreshments make the waiting and/or treatment time more pleasant.
